Frequently Asked Questions
Who can join the BB Alumni scheme?

If you were previously a member of The Boys’ Brigade UK & RoI as a child, young person or leader, you can join the Alumni Scheme. Whether you have just left the BB or it was part of your life a long time ago you can join by completing our Join Now form.

Former members who have since moved overseas are still very welcome to join.

What are the benefits of joining the BB Alumni scheme?

Benefits of joining include:

  • Membership card
  • Limited edition Alumni pin badge
  • Quarterly email update
  • BB Christmas decoration
  • Two copies each year of our membership magazine, ‘The Gazette’
Is there a financial cost?

Through a monthly gift of £6 or annual subscription of £60 you are able to join the Alumni scheme. Your support will help us to continue to provide opportunities for children and young people to learn, grow and discover now and into the future.

When will I receive my Welcome Pack?

Provided you have opted in to receive postal communications from us, your Welcome Pack will be dispatched within 28 days of joining.

If you have not received your pack after this point, please email us on support@boys-brigade.org.uk

How do I share my BB story?

We’d love to hear from former members – the influence that BB had on their life, any particularly highlights or memories they’d like to share, and what they are doing now.

We’ve created a simple form to share your story with us, including any pictures you have from your time in BB.

Can I find and follow the BB on social media?

Yes, you can! Find us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Can you put me in touch with a friend from when I was at BB?

We do hope that the new Alumni scheme will help former members to connect with old BB friends, but can’t promise to be able to do this. Some Companies already do hold events and reunions for former members, and we are encouraging others to consider whether they could as well.

How can I support children and young people in the BB today?

There are different ways you can support the work of the BB today:

Volunteer: with the support of more volunteers, the BB experience could be offered to more children and young people. Could you help us by sharing some of your time to support a local Company? Full support and training is given to all of our volunteers. Find out more about volunteering here.

Prayer: Each week thousands of children and young people come in the Church environment through BB activities. Many have no other real connection with the Church. The support of prayer for leaders and young people is vital in our ongoing commitment to advance Christ’s kingdom.

Donate: With greater financial resources, we could offer more support to our local groups and expand our work with young people.

How do I find my nearest active BB Company?

You can use our ‘Find a Group’ tool here.

Where can I buy BB merchandise?

BB Supplies is the official ordering and distribution service for They Boys’ Brigade merchandise, and includes a range of gifts.

You can browse our gifts collection here.

I have BB memorabilia that I would like to give to the BB, how do I do this?

Please email our Archive Trust who will be able to tell you if we might be able to use the items. You can get in contact on archive@boys-brigade.org.uk
